Dietmar Seiler about the regionale10

The regionale, the youngest Styrian Festival of Contemporary Art, focuses on the interface of culture and everyday life in different regions which act not only as a venue, but as a kind of breeding ground for the Festival.

With regard to the district of Liezen, which is roughly equal in size to the Federal Province of Vorarlberg, those high expectations could even be seen as a complication of matters. Although Austria's geographical centre point is located here, the district seems to be on the outskirts of developments, far away from metropolitan hustle and bustle. People who were born and bred in Liezen experience their home district as a centre and periphery at the same time. Whilst the towns here may be quiet, some Alpine cabins can offer the flair of the big wide world. Flourishing tourist destinations are surrounded by farm land, whilst industry still survives both on tradition and on its orientation towards the future.
Yes, Liezen District is indeed on the edge of the centre.

In accordance with that leitmotif, the regionale10 intends to create a playground where all those (imagined) contradictions within the region can be bundled, thus bearing witness to the multi-faceted environment and its social and cultural implications.
Where can culture be found? You may find it at an abbey that turns into a playground, or where borders are crossed, where work changes into wellness and where dizzy climbing tours become fashionable. All of that is culture and you can encounter it right here in this region. If you want to venture beyond limits and discover the extraordinary, you will find it here in Liezen, where concerts and stage performances, exhibitions and festivals, culinary and other adventures take place in over thirty projects.
