On the edge of the centre
The REGIONALE10
The motto chosen for the regionale10, "On the edge of the centre", can be interpreted in a much broader sense - that is, if we let it!
It alludes to people's attitude to life, who, despite living in a central Austrian region, feel they have been pushed out on the periphery and thus cherish no hopes for an improved future status, especially with regard to current economic and social tendencies. Besides that, the residents of Austria's by far largest district also have to cope with overcoming internal regional borders (in their minds).
However, "On the edge of the centre" does not only intend to question the status of contemporary culture, an issue which, not only in rural areas, remains virulent.
The regionale10 means to trigger off a discussion on today's urgent questions from both a global and a regional point of view by using artistic means and forms of expression as well as on the level of everyday's culture - in an insistent and serious but also playful and ironic manner. Whilst we broaden our horizons, we hope to remove inner-regional borders and intensify intercultural exchange.
The regionale10 hopes to contribute to making regional cultural diversity and vitality visible and thus promote and strengthen the native people's optimistic attitude towards life.
